As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with
El Rey Cuban & Mexican Cuisine!

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?

We are a Cuban and Mexican Cuisine restaurant chain that serves fresh food fast, based on our family recipes thatwe have incorporated over the years. We also are well known for our good coffees, our baristas are always ready either in our lobby or drive through, where they come very handy for the ones on the run. We have been in business for 28 years with 3 locations in Houston and one in Katy and are looking to grow.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
It was a curiosity to engage in some sort of business that we would have the opportunity to get involved and interact with a new challenge.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates

you from the competition?
We are very proud that they say that El Rey has the best breakfast tacos in Houston, but when it comes to our lunch and dinner, the secret recipe that we have is our rotisserie chicken and the chicken tortilla soup that marks the difference between El Rey and all the restaurants on the same line of work. Not to mention, our Mexican stylesandwiches at a good price that we sustain on these difficult economic days.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
My favorite part of running this business would be being independent.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
We love big groups of people.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
I am a chef by trade and a person that loves to interact with people.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
We always have something new coming, but every Tuesday we have Taco Tuesday, and we do have a loyalty

program for our loyal customers.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
We know that many people know about Mexican food, but what we offer with the twist of adding the Cuban food is what brings up flavors and new experiences that we invite our customers to have.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
I have no doubt that if we keep having our fresh quality food and good service in a community that continues to grow every day, like where we are here in Katy, our business will grow and people will keep loving us and craving our food.
