Young Athlete, Nico Reyes, Aims to Inspire the Katy Community
Congratulations to Haskett Junior High student athlete, Nico Reyes, for being named the USA Triathlon Kid of the Year! Nico has Down syndrome, but that has never stopped him from achieving his goals. He has completed seven youth triathlons and the USA National Championship, and is a true triathlete at heart. Nico and his parents, who are also athletes in their own right, hope to inspire the Katy community by sharing Nico's story.
Recently, a request was submitted to the Guinness World Records for Nico to become the first child in the world with Down Syndrome at 11 years of age to complete a triathlon in the sprint category. He is already registered for next month's Katy Triathlon and Katy ISD hopes that this goal will become a reality! Way to go, Nico!
