Katy ISD Pre-Kindergarten ProgramOnline preregistration for the Katy ISD Pre-Kindergarten program for 2023-2024 opens April 3! Parents must complete the online registration in order for their child to be screened for eligibility. The Katy ISD Pre-K program follows the state guidelines, which focus on oral language development, reading and math readiness, as well as science and social studies knowledge and skills.The Texas Legislature determines eligibility requirements for free, public prekindergarten in Texas. The Legislature established the prekindergarten program with the intent of providing early learning experiences to students who are most in need. The Legi​slature believed that a high-quality prekindergarten program could mitigate the impact of the at-risk characteristics, thereby assisting students to become school-ready when they enter kindergarten. Katy ISD offers a prekindergarten program for eligible students who turn 4 years of age on or before September 1st of the school year in which they intend to enroll.
