Fort Bend County EMS In-Charge Paramedic Lauren Smith Has Sadly Passed Away

The Sugar Land Fire - EMS are deeply saddened to hear the news of the unexpected passing of In-Charge Paramedic Lauren Smith. Their thoughts are with her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
Fort Bend County Emergency Medical Services is saddened to report the unexpected and untimely death of one of their own, In-Charge Paramedic Lauren Smith on Monday, April 10, 2023. Paramedic Smith has been a dedicated public servant to the citizens and visitors of Fort Bend County for more than 11 years after having earned her degree with honors in Emergency Medical Services from the Houston Community College.
Lauren touched the community where she lived and worked having received multiple commendations and written notes of thanks from those whom she responded to their calls for help. Her loss will be wide felt. Lauren was dedicated to her family and leaves behind her husband and daughter to remember her and keep her spirit alive.
This is a difficult time for their agency. Though they frequently are faced with death in their daily duties it still never prepares them for the tragedy of it being one of their own. At this time, they are supporting the family and assisting them in navigating their next steps. As funeral and remembrance plans are finalized and become available to them, they will release additional information with details for services, participation and remembrance on the Fort Bend County EMS Facebook page.
