As a Katy ISD Bus Driving Parent, you'll have the opportunity to drive your student's school on field trips! You will receive training and licensing, as well as payment for your time each trip you drive.

q. I've never driven a bus before. Will I receive training?
a. Yes! You must obtain a Commercial Driver's License and Katy ISD will train you to drive a school bus during several training classes. Visit the Texas Department of Public Safety website for more information on CDL requirements.
q. What is required to be a BDP?
a. The Department of Public Safety and Katy ISD training requirements apply. You must have a clean driving record (no DUI's, etc.) and you must pass all the background checks required for Katy ISD employees.
q. Does this make me a Katy ISD Employee?
a. All field trip drivers will be employed by Katy ISD as substitute bus drivers and will be compensated for your work.
q. Will I be required to bus multiple trips throughout the school year?
a. No, you will only drive on the trips you choose, which can be as few or as many as you like.
q. Who is allowed to apply?
