Katy ISD Students Shine at 2025 Plein Air Painting ContestKaty ISD student artists recently participated in the 2025 Plein Air Painting Contest at Willowfork Park, where they spent two and a half hours creating stunning works of art inspired by the park’s natural beauty. Plein air painting is the practice of painting outdoors, capturing the light, color, and atmosphere of a scene directly from life. The students’ creativity and skill were on full display, resulting in exceptional artwork. Congratulations to the winners: Danzel Decamotan from Paetow High School, taught by V. Underwood, who received the Artist’s Choice Award; Amanda Comparato from Morton Ranch High School, taught by Rachel Arnold, who earned Best of Show; and Jaylee Hyle, also from Morton Ranch High School and taught by Rachel Arnold, who received the Award of Excellence.
